All About CVG
If you are a consumer, choosing to purchase from Cannon Valley Grown members is an important way to support your local economy, ecology and culture. Your purchases contribute to your community, your health and the health of the environment. Getting involved with your local farmers, makers and producers is the best way for you to contribute to a better future. One where values are restored and people and planet thrive. If you make small weekly purchases from our local producer members, your money and support can go a long way toward creating a hopeful future.
If you are a food or fiber producer, consider joining our collaboration! Many people don’t have the same awareness about local food and goods that we did before modern agriculture and industrial times. Today we have the opportunity to relearn the possibility of local economies through the interconnectedness of modern marketing tools. Cannon Valley Grown is here to make that connection! We tell the stories of delicious food and drinks, exceptional products, and the dedicated people who make them here in the Cannon River Watershed. |

Founding Principles and Practices. The Cannon Valley Grown initiative was established to promote local businesses sharing similar values:
1. Raising/creating products and managing operations from a perspective of stewardship, sustainability and minimization of environmental harm; working to improve the health of biological ecosystems affecting and affected by operations.
2. Producing the majority of products within the Cannon River Watershed, and sourcing the majority of farm/product inputs/ingredients within the Watershed and/or regionally whenever feasible. [The term “majority” may have different meanings depending on the context and individual circumstances.]
3. Treating livestock, if any, humanely, offering quality care and ample living space according to their needs.
4. Balancing profits from operations with fair wages and a safe and healthy work environment.
5. Respecting all people who come into contact with operations, regardless of cultural background, religion, sexual orientation, gender, age, or abilities.
6. Working to strengthen the Foodshed through collaboration, knowledge seeking and sharing, and communication with other CVG participants and members of the larger community, as appropriate.
7. Maintaining openness and transparency in marketing to the public and in advancement of these Principles and Practices.
