Member Spotlight: Cannon Valley Graziers

Sheep graze in a bright green pasture as light passes through the tops of trees spread throughout the field.Have you met Josie Trople and Arlo Cristofaro-Hark
of Cannon Valley Graziers? They’re our CVG Member Spotlight of the week!

Josie and Arlo’s passion for grazing and local landscapes is deeply rooted in their genes. Josie grew up spending hot summers in the hayfield of her family’s ranch in southwest Washington where they tended to herds of cattle and sheep on the ranges of Montana and South Dakota. Arlo grew up roaming his family’s restored prairie and working with their small flock of sheep in the Cannon Valley watershed. After meeting in college the two set out to create a business that put their passion for ecological systems into action.

Cannon Valley Graziers offers targeted grazing services for ecological management, a variety of wool products and custom lamb. Just in time for the holidays, whole and half orders of lamb are available for January 2021! Custom lamb is a great gift that continues to nourish throughout the year 🎁 . Email Arlo and Josie for more information and to reserve your order by January 10th (info@cannonvalleygraziers.com).

Cannon Valley Graziers were recently awarded a USDA SARE Farmer/Rancher grant and a grant from the National Young Farmers Coalition. They will be testing the economic feasibility of using their flock to provide vegetation management on community solar sites and to expand their wool production and marketing efforts. Congratulations, Arlo and Josie!
