Member Spotlight: Dresow Family Farm
Have you met Stacy and Kevin Dresow of Dresow Family Farm? They’re our CVG Member Spotlight of the week!
Tucked away in the rolling hills of Lonsdale, MN, Dresow Family Farm raises white and colored Cormo and Cormo cross-bred sheep for their squishy soft fiber qualities. Always keeping “local” in mind, they raise their flock on grasses & clover from their pastures and bedding from their neighbors’ oat and corn fields. They use organic field peas and locally milled grains from their town’s feed mill. The sheep also have free choice mineral formulated and mixed in Northern Minnesota. They rotationally graze their flock in their woods and pasture, bale graze, frost seed by hand & compost the manure to fertilize the hay fields. Stacy even dyes her sheep’s wool using plant fibers grown on the farm, purchased from local growers or food compost. They also restored their wetlands and are recognized as a Minnesota Department of Agriculture Water Quality Certified Farm since 2018. It’s safe to say Stacy and Kevin are all about local.
Dresow Family Farm sells raw fleeces, roving, yarn and finished goods as well as pasture raised, grass fed lamb and mutton. In addition to their flock, they raise Hereford cattle, laying hens, Idaho Pasture Pigs, rabbits, dogs, cats, a cutting horse and a small herd of free-range children.
